It is a great initiative by HGH India, to bring the industry together with brands, manufacturers, retailers, and wholesalers. They are supporting artisans as well. We have seen HGH India grow from strength to strength through the last 12 editions and this being the 13th edition it is even bigger. Consumer base in India is growing, not just in metros but smaller cities as well. They are becoming more aware and conscious.
It’s my pleasure to be at HGH India this year. Textiles and handicrafts are one of the largest employers. This trade show showcases Indian brand in the best possible manner with our hand-crafted home textiles, furnishings, decorative made-ups, rugs etc. with high value addition. I also had an opportunity to speak to some of the exhibitors who are a regular at HGH India and that is clearly because of the value that the show adds.
As a designer, the most important thing is to finish the project not only the hard, hard, hardscape of it, but the soft part of it. Whether it may be residential, commercial and hospitality, I feel that HGH India is one of the best platform on which you can look, source and meet not only the retailers, but you meet manufacturers and the manufacturers too. We're a wallpaper brand based out of Delhi. I've been visiting HGH since the past almost 8 years, if I remember. And, I can absolutely see the difference that they're bringing into the home decor industry. It's a great platform for B2B customers and for any upcoming furnishings brand or a home decor brand to showcase their product or to buy new products for their respective stores.
I'm happy to be here at HGH India after a break of two years. And it's exciting to see the way the HGH India has grown and the number of participants and the new products that are available. It's a great place to meet new vendors, and look at the trends and changing products. HGH India is a great place to be to source new product that is really going to cater to those new, evolved Indian consumers.
HGH for me has been always a very enriching and fascinating experience. You see so many brands come up, you see so many business partners, colleagues. Everyone comes together as an industry. HGH India has been very special because the way they have been understanding the consumer and their journey every year is something which is needed for our market. I have seen all the previous editions of HGH India and the show is just becoming better and better year on year. In terms of its displays and decor and layouts of the booths, it is international level and exceeds our expectations each years.
This trade show is geared up for upcoming vendors. Buyers like us, who are from Home stores chain, look for new vendors who manufacture in India across home categories. HGH India 2021 was great for this purpose. We had a very focussed approach. We could connect with many such vendors who we think, we can develop further. Overall a brilliant experience at HGH India.
It is great to be back in a physical trade fair after a long gap and see old and new people around. In my opinion, it makes a lot of sense to have two fairs in a year. Internationally, two fairs in a year, for spring-summer and autumn-winter is an accepted trend. The concept is catching up in Indian home market too. The bi-annual fair will also make the exhibitors come out with ranges every six months so for us, there will be something new to offer to the consumers.
For me coming to HGH India is a compulsion because it is the only useful trade show taking place in the Indian home and kitchen industry. It was nice to meet many homeware companies after a long time and re-establish our connection. We were satisfied to see many new products and innovations. Post- COVID buying habits of consumers in cookware and other home segments have changed drastically. I was very pleased to visit companies like Sthal, Maxima, Cello with such wide product range. Corelle too came with a new range. We were looking for suppliers for home textiles, particularly bed and bath, and found good solutions!
I am super excited to be back at HGH India, which I have been visiting from the very beginning. I am very delighted with this new location, North of India. What I liked were the new concepts that HGH India launched. They made the visitors far more aware of things. As always, the show touched the consumers very well- be it around sleep technology, smart cooking, or other focus areas. Everything was very well curated. That is why I always want to be back here to see what new is happening in the industry, meet all old colleagues, business partners and find new partners.
I think each year it becomes better and better because not that I only see my existing suppliers but lot of new things, new innovations and also lot of new people from different countries. Honestly it saves a lot of time for me because in one platform I do see and meet lot of existing suppliers and also able to find new. So it’s a one-time activity where I spend 2 to 3 days and I get to see all the new developments from my known people and also some new things which other partners are doing. I think biggest USP that it is the only show which have this kind of platform and other could be the way it is organised. I think it is comparable to any international show that I visit. And third could be the assortment that I get to see across all of home categories, I don’t think anything is missed when it comes to my home buying activities.
India is growing so the growth of these industries is number one link to the growth of the country, so I think that’s a given and as participation in such events grows and as awareness about opportunities to get involved grow with maybe the companies that are not very large but are looking for something like this, an opportunity to network, an opportunity to meet either suppliers buyers. I think the outlook is very positive. I love the fact that something new is there every year, I get to meet more and more possible vendors from more and more nations. I love the fruit stall.
I am overwhelmed to be present at HGH India 2018 and believe that its growth since the very first edition has been exponential. A lot of new players, categories and products have been added this year and I am certain that the three days that I have invested here will benefit the growth of my own business to a great extent. We have built a rapport with quite a few exhibitors and I personally believe that this trade show is the best of its kind in the Home Textiles space.
HGH India is a great trade show for country’s market. It has grown with each passing year and has now reached a level where it can be compared to any international trade show. I assumed that I would be able to complete my tour of this show within a day or two, but I was mistaken as it is huge, and the display of diverse products in three halls has provided the scope for a lot to be explored. I am also impressed with the Trends Pavilion as I feel that they are at par with industry standards, and it is great to see the quality of international exhibitors this year.
My name is Rashmi Tekchandani I am from Hyderabad and I have just open a small studio in Hyderabad it’s called Hoop furnishings. We deal in soft furnishings, home textiles and some beautiful wall coverings as well. This is my first time at the HGH India. It’s vast so I don’t know how much time more I will take to cover this. So I hope I am able to cover all of this so that I don’t miss out on any great opportunity that comes my way.
We have a manufacturing unit and a retail store. We are basically from Panipat but based out of Bombay and Delhi now. This is my first time, we are actually an exporter so we travel a lot we go to heimtextil quite a bit, so a person like me would like to compare it with heimtextil. I am very impressed with the Indian domestic market now and its growing rapidly. And to see small manufactures coming out and having a platform like this to display their own creations and getting out there at the Indian audience it is very impressive and I think it was about time and you can see that it is expanded, that means the potential is very much there.
I am visiting this HGH fair since 2012. So what is have seen that its growing, the development, drastically the have changed each and everything in term of merchandise, in terms of management, in terms of getting new ideas, getting new vendors, the brands and now its becomes of international standards. We are just in the process of launching the first cooking school by Foodhall. So I think from basic equipment like your pots, pans to your gas rangers, your kitchen equipment I think it’s a place where you can find everything under one roof.
I am very impressed by the management. I feel things are become smooth in last seven years. The first year, second year had a few issues but now it is so smooth, I kind of find it as a breeze to come and go. The services like the VIP lounge, the visitor services that we have has made this experience that much better. In a place like HGH which is very high class and for the high end product like coir and once that go into corporative society kind of displays coming over here is very impressive because people like us get to keep that also in our mind and take it forward in our businesses, that’s very interesting.
We have been visiting from the first year. We are from Bangalore. Every year we see a good growth and this year I see it’s more organized and more footfalls and quite well arrange show. We are from home furnishings, they are big segments in home furnishings also the range starts from 100 to 5000 and how they do it for crockeries and fabrics and other home accessories I would suggest them they have segment for home furnishings also. I have come from Bangalore. This is my first time here at the exhibition. It is very well organized. Looking forward to open my show-room in Bangalore. Getting lots of Ideas here. Lots of varieties in Curtains, Bedcover, Cushion covers quits are available. Everything is available here what a showroom requires to open. Feeling happy to see the stuff around. Will plan to visit the next year as well. Collection-wise & organisation-wise everything is just great. Bangalore is a growing city, so I feel it’s better to organise similar show there as well.
We have one of the largest populations in the world and we are also having a very fast growth of per capita income, which means the affordability of buying luxury items is increasing day by day. So, we are in that preparation preparedness to absorb more and more domestic items in the Home textiles. In addition to that we are also becoming more fashionable, more trendy. Certain areas of Home textiles like when you are putting anti-bacterial property or fire retardancy or even water repellent properties, all those becomes technical textiles in their own right, so that is another segment which the government is very much encouraging. So, I would like all the innovations which are happening, they should come more and more and we should develop. We are the hub of the manufactures. We should become even a stronger hub and reach out to all the global markets. The soul and the heart of our country rest with handicrafts, rest with khadi, we have got great kind of sentimental attachment to these products. The artisans that I saw I think they are the best anywhere in the world and the kind of art which they have really requires to be nurtured and requires to be developed because this art can never be replaced in many many years.
India has diversified its products so much there it has very inexpensive, very durable, non-woolen, cotton, denim, linen, jute, multiple products that are used or useable in the Indian climate or Indian scenario or are good for a middle, upper – middle or middle class Indian society, so that has changed. Carpets are good for export, it is good and it is being exported but I think carpets will be sold in Indian markets specially the medium and low end products, especially the non-wool and non-silk products and I think it is true that most of the Indian handmade carpets manufacturers and exporters have already started look inwards towards India as a market. They are opening retail outlets or opening, making distributors and channels of distribution across India and that is going to happen. The response for imported stuff in India is also very good specially the machine made and the wooden flooring carpets. Indian corporate, Indian hotels, Indian malls, an offices have a huge potential whereas residences will always like and want customized, small size, different shapes, different looks and feels. Indian corporate offices, Indian real-estates, Indian retail malls, will all have imported machine made rugs because the technology is improving, the prices are coming down and India has huge commercial market.
So this year I think you have two halls that has made a difference with clear segregation so even my team used to get confused in between, suddenly you will have textiles and you will have somewhere décor or something. It is very clear and I think it is more focussed. People think that it is more organised that is what. And I think more number of participants, more number of exhibitors, more number of visitors I think and definitely it is much better. See it is always like, we introduce last year also we got some international brands from HGH, and we are quite hopeful this year also we will get something different. Even, not only whereas brands, even some private label people we will get, I think. That is what is helping. But I think obviously it is useful to have international players and lot of international people are also here who have actually come as visitors. So you know that also should be helping you people. Showcase from brands and plus at one g you can see everything and lot of international exposure, people don’t need to go out now and they can get everything here. They can get I think better feel and they can have more interactions with the brands who are even in India also those people are not able to showcase everything otherwise you know. But, when such kind of occasions, they get all their products, so it is very useful to us I think. Definitely yes, because I have been associated for the last five years and I think in retail, since we are in retail business, so we will be definitely coming to such kind of shows.
I think HGH is getting better and better with every passing year. This is my third or fourth year. And every time I come here I see new suppliers, new categories so it is getting interesting with each year. I think India is a very evolving market. The best part I like in this year is obviously the how the whole houseware has been separated in different hall which helps us get focussed. So this time I finished more than I finished last year in the same. Because I knew where I had to come to find who. And otherwise lot of, I think there is a china gallery which is new this time and also from the existing brands we see some good innovations.
See we have been attending, this is my third show and we see that there is an improvement every year. And this time we have seen lot of new products, lot of new vendors, and the mix is increasing day by day. So initially it was a pure furnishing show, then day added bed and bath, this year you have lot of home products. And the way it has been organised, the way things have been done is excellent. So really, it has improved from the last year. See the way the show has been designed, is excellent, the way the rows have been created it is now coming to the international way. Because we attend a lot of international shows, where you know exactly how and where your product is. So that kind of thing we have noticed this year. And the kind of layouting that has been done, is excellent. Yes, it is much more on a bigger level, because we have seen HGH grow since the time it started, so now I think this year it is full blown.
India is one country which is growing, the GDP is growing at a steady rate of 7.5%. so there is a growth in the demand and our population is also 65% of our population is below 35 years and there is a huge demand and the younger generation is giving a lot of thought and there is a lot of demand for standard home products, you know home décor products, they believe in spending lot of money on these products. So India is in fact one of the largest market for these products you know. And the way it is growing despite the international recession, I think India is the destination of the future. Absolutely, absolutely, the kind of quality products which we have got, and the kind of trends which are now shown in this exhibition today, I am sure that world over people, countries, different countries will be very happy to source home décor products from here.
I think HGH India has come a long way, it is the fifth edition, and they have expanded quite considerably, and the kind of show, it is of a very high international level. I am very much hoping that this becomes an international show also. China is slowing down a little bit. With the space which will be created, and our own kind of a push which we are taking up, I think the two things will combine together, and we will be having a very good global presence in the international market. We already have a good global presence, but that is going to definitely increase much further.
Better than any international shows, because I have seen so many shows worldwide, in Europe & USA, but it is better than in many respects. Home Textiles, HGH, generally home textiles comes in the mind of people is furnishing, bed sheets, linen all those things. But home textiles is not limited to that, home textiles means, whatever product you use at home, that comes under home textiles, and this show reflects that.
Last three years as I have been seeing has grown many a fold. And has become very very vital and important for the domestic market consumers and the retailers. Because HGH is now one platform for many a crafts, many a textile things which are being made in India, which have been focusing mostly on the exports, have not given any weightage to the domestic market. HGH has been one of the platforms where, who has been instrumental in getting all those big manufacturers together to see what the demands are and to see and show to the people that this product can be also sold in their country itself. See HGH, as I see has already made a niche in the domestic market. They have understood the requirements, they have exhibition parameters of international standards that is what we require. So, but over the years they are also in the learning mode and have adopted to requirements of the world consumers, the world buyers. And they are very selective in putting the companies who have good name and have made niche in their field to bring them on this platform. HGH can play a very vital role. As I see, as I told you over the, I have seen the fair growing year by year, so HGH doing all what is required to make a fair to the international level. No compromise with the quality, this is the mantra of HGH. They don’t compromise with the quality, they don’t compromise with the standards laid for the exhibition, and they are always in the listening mode, whatever the exhibitor wants, whatever the exhibitors require, they always try to follow it up in the subsequent fairs.
After having visited this last year, to see this quantum jump this year, it is very satisfying. It is fantastic to see that we can create, not only create a world- class exhibition, world class products in the exhibition category, I am sure that what I saw, especially the way the research has is done on trends and the whole magazine, that is done, capturing that thought, so it is not only looking at the whole exhibition from a point of view a relationship of a buyer and a supplier kind of a relationship, it is a market leadership because, when you can put consumer in front, predict their behaviour and share that with your business partners, you would have this scale and size of exhibition. I am very happy. What is good is that we have literally partnered with HGH in some way to first showcase, so our baby steps have been taken together with HGH and I am happy to say that we have been able to create a distinct space in the mind of the consumer. Our growth has been fantastic and I hope that the way we are seeing again a big, sharp growth, and I am sure that we would continue to grow with HGH in coming years as well.
It’s a fabulous exhibition, it has got a great energy, so many different brands and fabulous content on each and every brand! Portico particularly over here, is looking very lively, colourful, beautiful prints, beautiful colours, I see some great new collections in pastels and vibrance on plain fabrics and really really nice comfortable fabrics, great textures, and I guess I want to take all of this home. You know I think this partnership is a great synergy. So I guess so why not even household. And today designers are trickling down to each and every aspect of your household. Especially bed linen, where you want quality, you want a brand, you want great prints, you want something that you can take in your trousseau, which is also something that is beautiful and you can keep it for posterity and it looks gorgeous when you use it in your home. Absolutely, I think there is a huge scope for fashion designers and my association with portico goes down almost now 4-5 years. And I am seeing the kind of recurrent requirement that’s coming from the consumer who is aspiring for a brand on the household items and I think it is great because, it is not only something that is prevalent now, but it is on the increase. Whether you take a branded value to household, whether you take it to your clothes, whether you take it to the cars, or anything as per say.
Houseware you see two years back, almost very few brands where there. If you see today, from China to some Thai brands, to Moradabad to local, to European brand, everybody is there and that definitely helps. Exposure for team members of my team those who have not travelled for any shows in abroad, for them it is a great exposure, a great experience to see, to get lot of products under one roof. Range selection happens easier. This time wallpaper is a big hit, we will definitely be trying to get new wallpaper vendor for us, may be we will tie up with a brand or we will tie up as private label, but we will definitely get. In certain categories, we are getting more and more exposure here. I think it is definitely beneficial to us, because it has given some good exposure to lot of team members who don’t see such shows.
Four years I am coming to HGH India and every year there is a tremendous progress and change in terms of categories, products and size. New vendors, new exhibitors, new categories, new products like this time I have seen floorings, kitchen, house ware, new vendors of bedding and is well organized and much better than last year.
HGH India has made a platform in India which is of international standards. We have come to this level for bringing in together manufactures, retailers, wholesalers and traders under one roof and makes it convenient for them to purchase goods from different vendors and how to display the same. Manufacturers explain them by displaying their products in a showroom setup at this tradeshow to explain the purpose, utility of the product and to sell the same. This has become a platform where we all gather to share knowledge in a convenient environment. To bring the whole industry under one roof is a major task by itself which we are able to achieve. From our small beginning, the future looks very bright.
The fair the way it is evolving to educate customers is No.1. It was earlier more of a textile show, now it has crockery and kitchen implements and so on. Lot of sellers are coming from outside countries, there are a lot of imported brands in the show. Consumers are getting a much wider spread of products to choose from, to understand much higher level of quality. Certain products were not accepted two years ago or five years ago, now they are rapidly getting accepted. There are lot of things for instance, in kitchen tools Indian ladies did not know how to use, but today they are common features. The Indian consumer is evolving and HGH India is to help them to evolve one step further.
Compared to previous editions, this year the booths look completely different in terms of size, participant as well as decoration. At HGH India we met many manufacturers who we haven’t met before. Now we get to meet many new manufacturers at this show every year. All manufactures showcase new products here we get to see them and place orders as well. It’s beneficial for us to meet so many manufacturers at one place.
Houseware as a category in India is growing and it will still grow because this is something which is actually missing from the Indian market. I had come here two years back specially for HGH and I saw very little houseware stalls over here, this year when I come over here I see a lot of stalls. Which is actually a good thing for Indian buyers to come over here visit these stalls, so that they can get a feel of the market which is all the futuristic products, which are going to come in the market.
When I came here it’s been a totally different experience. The crowd, the space that it provides you with, there is something very nice. Even when you are walking you are seeing so many people and so many brands around. It’s a whole new different experience for me, usually events and brand launches don’t happen like this, but I guess this is the perfect place to launch, because this is where the market is, this is where the people come for these kind of brands, these kind of home décor.
I started this e-commerce portal, the name is LovelyLifestyle.com. We have added a new category of home décor & home furnishing. I came here looking for vendors in home décor whether international or national vendors. This was my purpose of coming from Punjab to Bombay. I was really looking forward to it. This is my first time here, a friend of mine recommended to me about this exhibition. So I came here and I have met at least 50 different companies in different product categories. This all helps me in knowing the product companies on my site. The execution has been fantastic. I have been to many tradeshows, but this has definitely been very nicely executed. Especially the fruit stall, one of the most innovative concept that I have come across.
As this is the fourth edition, HGH India is a very good initiative which started in 2012, and I am sure over the years we have seen how it has grown, how people have responded and in times to come, I think it will become a milestone for Indian Market both from consumers’ and producers’ point of view. If you see, India is a young society, the younger people predominate India unlike China. So, new people are more receptive to new innovation, new ideas, new products and that is why probably it is one of the stimulus to the Textile Industry. When you bring out the new product, there is a good response, the entrepreneur, the manufacturers are encouraged to do that and even otherwise because of the other factors which play a part in global competitiveness. I think the domestic demand itself, the domestic market itself is throwing a challenge to the producers that probably you may not look at others as well, and it could be done very much on the home ground. But yes, certainly we need inter country collaborations both in terms of technique, style, color, preferences, consumers and what is wanted where. I think the whole industry should be geared up to cater to the consumers.
